Vaste opération antidrogue à Bignona : Plusieurs champs détruits, 37 sacs de chanvre indien saisis
The Defense and Security Forces (FDS) are continuing their offensive against drug trafficking networks in Casamance. An operation conducted on Friday, October 30, 2026, by elements of the Elinkine Naval Base led to the discovery and destruction of several cannabis plantations in the Karone Islands, in the Bignona department.
The military have entered the isolated villages of Boune and Bocko, located in the commune of Kafountine, district of Kataba 1, as part of a large-scale security operation.
The sweep carried out in this island area uncovered several fields of Indian hemp, which were immediately destroyed by the forces deployed on the ground.
The military also made a significant seizure. In total, 37 bags filled with Indian hemp and four 20-liter containers of cannabis seeds were recovered.
Despite this large-scale operation, no arrests were made. Those involved in operating these plantations reportedly left the area before the arrival of the defense and security forces.
The operation proceeded without incident. It is part of the ongoing military operations to combat drug production and trafficking in the Casamance island regions.
