Vidéo, captures Wave et audios : les preuves qui ont fait tomber un bijoutier de Kidira
On October 22, 2026, the Kidira territorial brigade arrested S. PENE, a 62-year-old jeweler residing in the Abattoirs neighborhood of Kidira. He is being prosecuted for complicity in migrant smuggling and fraud involving 1,200,000 CFA francs, to the detriment of S. THIAM.
According to S. Thiam, who wanted to emigrate, he turned to S. Pene. To convince him to embark on this adventure, the latter allegedly told him that his own son, H. Pene, had reached Spain with the help of a smuggler named M. Diallo, based in Mauritania. He reportedly specified that the journey was by boat and cost 1,200,000 CFA francs.
Full of hope for a better future, the plaintiff accepted the old man's offer without suspicion. S. PENE then asked him for a deposit of 250,000 CFA francs, presented as covering the paperwork. This initial payment was filmed in the presence of a witness, as a sign of acknowledgment. S. THIAM was then invited to travel to Nouadhibou, in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, to meet the smuggler, Mr. DIALLO, and complete the necessary formalities.
Two days later, S. PENE called the complainant to demand the remaining balance. He asked him to make the payment via Wave, claiming that the documents were ready and the boat was available. The transaction was completed in two installments, of 49,000 and 955,000 CFA francs.
Since then, the complainant claims to have been pursuing the suspect, who is struggling to shed light on his whereabouts. After a month of waiting, exasperated and distraught, S. Thiam filed a complaint with the Bakel District Court. The case was then forwarded to the Kidira territorial brigade for investigation and arrest.
The gendarmes went to the scene to arrest the suspect. Taken to the station, S. PENE confessed to the charges against him. He stated that he had given the money to the smuggler through a Mauritanian man, M. SOW, who was passing through Kidira at the time. After being informed of his rights, he was taken into custody.
To support his accusations, the complainant provided investigators with screenshots of Wave transactions, video of the advance payment, and audio recordings related to the trip, for inclusion in the file.
At the conclusion of the investigation, S. PENE was brought before Prosecutor Aliou Dia, head of the Tambacounda prosecutor's office, who ordered his detention.
