Vol à l’arraché d’une perruque : Un jeune cordonnier condamné à 6 mois de prison ferme
G. Thiam, a 22-year-old shoemaker, faces a sentence of two years, including six months of imprisonment. He appeared before the Thiès court for flagrant offenses to answer charges of snatching a natural hair wig.
According to the victim, the incident occurred while she was in a public place. G. Thiam and a man named Amdy were riding a motorcycle. As they passed the victim, Amdy, who was driving the motorcycle, slowed down and then braked to allow G. Thiam to rip off her wig.
After committing the crime, the two men fled on a motorcycle. However, they were pursued by bystanders. During the chase, G. Thiam was eventually apprehended, while Amdy managed to escape.
In court, the young shoemaker tried to absolve himself of all responsibility. Contrary to the victim's statements, he claimed that he was the one driving the motorcycle and that Amdy was the one who ripped it off.
G. Thiam even went so far as to claim that he had no particular connection with Amdy and that he was simply acting as his driver. These statements did not convince the prosecution.
Considering the facts sufficiently established, the prosecutor requested a two-year prison sentence, with six months to be served. The court found G. Thiam guilty and sentenced him to two years, with six months to be served in prison.
