Bag snatching: the two perpetrators were involved in an accident and arrested by Jaxaay police after a chase.

The Jaxaay district police station took two individuals into custody on October 6, 2026, at approximately 9:00 PM, on suspicion of conspiracy and nighttime robbery involving a vehicle. The suspects are O. Faye, 17 years old, who claims to be a car washer, and MH Sall, 17 years old, a delivery driver. Both reside in Colobane.

The snatch-and-grab theft in front of the "Gambetta" pharmacy

According to the account of events, the victim, ML Dramé, a delivery driver, had just left the "Gambetta" pharmacy, located on Avenue du Président Lamine Guèye. He was about to make a call when the suspects, who were riding a gray Honda SH motorcycle, allegedly snatched his Motorola Edge cell phone. The two individuals then fled.

ML Dramé then decided to follow them on his delivery motorcycle. His pursuit led him to the Lat Dior bus station. There, the suspected criminals allegedly collided with a vehicle and lost their balance, causing them to fall onto the road.

The police officers' chance intervention

By a stroke of luck, three officers from the Jaxaay district police station were on duty near the scene of the accident. Upon seeing the officers, the two suspects abandoned the motorcycle and the stolen phone at the scene and continued their escape on foot.

One of the police officers then took charge of retrieving the motorcycle, while his two colleagues gave chase to the fleeing suspects. After a long pursuit, O. Faye and MH Sall were apprehended and taken into custody.

The two young men were taken into custody for the aforementioned reasons: conspiracy and robbery committed at night, as a group, and using a vehicle. The public prosecutor's office has been notified of the case and an investigation has been opened.
