Organized robbery and drug use in the Cité Fadia housing project: 7 suspects arrested, including a French soldier

Vol en bande organisée et usage de drogue à la Cité Fadia : 7 suspects dont un militaire français arrêtés

The case is shaking up a neighborhood in Cité Fadia. This Thursday, seven individuals were presented to prosecutor Saliou Dicko, head of the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor's office, following an investigation conducted by officers from the Golf-Sud district police station.

An altercation stemming from a motorcycle theft

It all began last Saturday when an "APRILIA-SPORT CITY 125" motorcycle belonging to Mr. B. DIALLO was stolen. Thanks to reviewing CCTV footage, the victim was able to identify the suspected thieves and locate them in a furnished apartment in the Cité Fadia neighborhood.

On Monday, September 7, at approximately 8:45 p.m., B. Diallo arrived at the scene. He explained that he had come to the building to see a friend named B. Ndiaye, without providing further details. On the first floor, a heated argument broke out between them and the apartment's occupants. During the dispute, one of the suspects brandished a knife and attempted to attack B. Ndiaye. This threat immediately provoked the anger of the neighbors, who rushed to his defense and formed a hostile crowd around the building.

Given the seriousness of the situation, B. Diallo called the police for help. Upon arrival, officers from the Golf-Sud district police station's investigation unit were met by a crowd gathered in front of the building. They went directly to the furnished apartment occupied by Y. Soumare, a 24-year-old French soldier born in Dakar, who had come to Senegal for his holidays.

At the scene, law enforcement officers arrested seven individuals. Among them was the main occupant, Y. SOUMARE, aged 24. He was accompanied by I. SOUMARE, aged 27 and born in Matam, as well as O. SOUMARE, a 16-year-old minor, also born in Matam. Police also arrested I. CAMARA, aged 25 and born in Dakar, as well as A. COULIBALY, aged 24 and born in Matam. Finally, the group included M. SOUMARE, aged 21 and born in Matam, and D. SOUMARE, also aged 21 and born in Matam.

Incriminating discoveries were made during the search.

During a thorough search of the apartment, investigators made several incriminating discoveries. They seized four packets of marijuana hidden under a bedspread, along with cigarette butts. They also found a knife, a pair of scissors, and a complete set of equipment used for packaging and smoking shisha.

All the suspects were then taken to the police station. During questioning, the companions claimed they had simply come to visit Y. Soumare. Briefly interrogated, the French soldier presented his identity papers and his military professional card. He declared himself the sole owner of all the drugs found in the apartment, according to Seneweb sources. However, he categorically denied any involvement in the motorcycle theft.

However, the police discovered the stolen motorcycle lock at the scene, although the motorcycle itself remained missing. The victim stated that he had picked up the lock on the ground floor of the building occupied by Y. SOUMARE.

The seven individuals involved are now likely to be prosecuted for conspiracy, organized robbery, collective use of marijuana, and illegal possession of a bladed weapon. Their fate now rests in the hands of the justice system.
