Vol présumé de téléphones : surpris dans la maison de ses voisins, il plaide l’erreur de domicile après une nuit d’ivresse
Charged with stealing two mobile phones from Mr. Faye's home, driver Ibrahima appeared before the Thiès District Court.
The events took place around 6 a.m. On that day, the defendant allegedly broke into the home of the plaintiff before entering one of the bedrooms, where he allegedly took two mobile phones.
The devices were then allegedly concealed in his pockets.
But his intrusion did not go unnoticed. Surprised by Mr. Faye inside the house, the defendant was subjected to a pat-down search. This reportedly led to the discovery of the two cell phones in his pockets. He was then arrested and handed over to the police before being remanded in custody.
In court, Ibrahima categorically denied the theft charges.
In his defense, he claims he had no intention of stealing. The defendant explained that he was heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident. Upon returning home, he stated that he had mistaken Mr. Faye's house for his own and had entered his neighbor's house by mistake. This version of events, however, did not fully clarify the circumstances surrounding the presence of the two cell phones in his pockets.
The prosecution has requested that the law be applied.
At the end of the proceedings, the judge of the Thiès District Court finally acquitted the driver due to reasonable doubt.
