A case of alleged infanticide has shaken the Daroukhane neighborhood in the Wakhinane-Nimzatt district. According to L'Observateur, K. Tall, a 33-year-old divorced mother of five, was brought before the prosecutor in Pikine-Guédiawaye before being released. She is suspected of having concealed her pregnancy before abandoning her newborn.

An anonymous tip alerted police to the case of a woman who had reportedly recently given birth. Interviewed by the Criminal Investigation Unit, the woman in her thirties claimed to have become pregnant after a relationship with a man whose identity she did not know. Quoted in the newspaper, she maintains that she secretly gave birth in her seventh month of pregnancy, on the night of August 14th to 15th, after managing to conceal her condition.

When questioned by investigators, she claimed the child had died at birth. She said she then wrapped the body in a sheet before leaving it early the next morning in front of the Muslim cemeteries in Guédiawaye. Accompanied by police officers, the woman went to the location and showed them the exact spot where she claimed to have abandoned the newborn.

However, the same source notes that a meticulous search conducted over several hours around the site failed to locate the body. The possibility that the body had been moved by stray dogs was raised, but this could not be confirmed. While awaiting further developments in the legal proceedings, the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias asks: what became of the infant?
