Week-end macabre : sept morts entre Kaolack, Touba, Matam et Dakar
Between Friday evening and Sunday, October 4, 2026, Seneweb recorded seven deaths in Kaolack, Touba, Matam, and Dakar. These deaths were due to building collapses, drowning, electrocution, and the discovery of a body on the Corniche.
Friday, October 2: A blacksmith electrocuted in Yeumbeul
Around 5 p.m., the National Fire Brigade notified the Yeumbeul district police station of a death by electrocution in Darou Salam 2. Police found the body of K. Seye, approximately 22 years old, in his workshop, lying on his back, with burns to his chest and other parts of his body. According to information gathered at the scene, the blacksmith was manipulating electrical cables to stop the machines at the request of his uncle, with whom he shared the workshop, who wanted to leave for prayer.
Saturday, October 3: A homeless man was found dead on the Corniche
Around 6 p.m., the Rebeuss district police station was notified of the discovery of a body at the Third Millennium Gate on the Corniche Ouest. The deceased was identified as JP Cordozo, a 72-year-old homeless man. He was slim, approximately 1.60 meters tall, and had white hair. He was lying outdoors, on his left side, with a pair of crutches beside him. His body showed no apparent injuries. According to information gathered, he had been involved in a traffic accident more than six months prior, which had fractured his left leg and appeared to have left him weakened. Firefighters transported the body to Fann Hospital to determine the cause of death. An investigation is underway.
Night of October 3-4: a Koranic teacher dies in the collapse of his Daara in Kaolack
Around 11 p.m., the Kaolack central police station was notified of the collapse of the slab of a house housing a Daara (Koranic school) in the Passoire neighborhood. The two-story building (ground floor plus one) served as private apartments for the Koranic teacher and his family. His wife and children, who were inside, were rescued by firefighters. The collapse primarily affected the section containing the marabout's bedroom. Firefighters, supported by the military engineering corps, carried out extensive clearing operations, which required the demolition of part of the building. These operations took place in the presence of the prefect of the department and a representative of the mayor's office. Around 6 a.m., rescue workers discovered the body of the Koranic teacher, ML Talla, approximately 45 years old. The collapse of part of the structure onto a neighboring property caused significant material damage, but no other injuries. An investigation is underway.
Sunday, October 4: A wall collapses on children in Touba
At 11:45 a.m., the Touba Special Police Station was informed that a wall had collapsed on two children in Touba Alomga. The wall was dilapidated, with a concrete post whose reinforcing bars had come loose. Part of the wall collapsed on children who were playing nearby. EH Kontey, 4 years old, born in Touba and residing in Alomga (Touba Ndiarème neighborhood), died instantly. N. Niang, 4 years old, residing in the same neighborhood, was taken to Matlaboul Fawzaini Hospital before the police arrived. Firefighters transported EH Kontey's body to the hospital morgue for an autopsy. The public prosecutor's office has been notified and an investigation has been opened.
Sunday, October 4: a slab collapses in Matam
At 12:30 PM, the Matam central police station received reports of the collapse of a concrete slab in a hut built inside a house in the Gourel Serigne neighborhood. Police officers found the body of L. Mangane, approximately 40 years old, a housewife who lived in the neighborhood. Two people were seriously injured: A. Mbodji, 30 years old, a housewife born in Bokoudialobé and residing in Gourel Serigne, and A. Mangane, 21 years old, born in Matam and residing at the same address. Firefighters transported the injured to the Matam Regional Hospital. L. Mangane's body was taken to the morgue at the Ourossogui Regional Hospital for an autopsy. The public prosecutor's office has been notified and an investigation has been opened.
Parcelles Assainies: A mother and her son drowned
After heavy rains, around 6:45 p.m., a house wall collapsed in Unit 7, resulting in the deaths of two people. The Parcelles police commissioner and his officers found two lifeless bodies on the terrace on Sunday: those of A. Ngom, approximately 25 years old, and his son, M. Gningue, approximately 4 years old. A neighbor, a witness, explained that the force of the rain caused the perimeter wall to give way, leading to a massive influx of water into the house and the drowning of the victims. Attempts to pull them from the water were unsuccessful. The high water level made extraction difficult, but police officers waded through the floodwaters, conducted their initial investigation, and handed the bodies over to the fire department. The firefighters transported them to the morgue for autopsies. A climate of sadness and consternation still prevails. The investigation by the Parcelles Assainies district police station is ongoing.

Mon plaisir c'est la clarté avec laquelle Allah expose l'hypocrisie. La leçon qui s'affiche est que les efforts des hypocrites pour brouiller la vérité deviennent des lumières qui éclairent la même vérité.
Le Coran insiste beaucoup sur ce principe qui fait que par un même signe Allah éclaire les uns et égare les autres. Et les égarés ne le sont qu'en conséquence de leurs actes.
