Yeumbeul: Four homosexuals arrested, police uncover a vast network

Four people were arrested by officers from the Yeumbeul-Comico police station as part of an investigation into sexual harassment, "unnatural acts", voluntary transmission of HIV and endangering the lives of others, reports Libération.

On August 29, around midnight, investigators arrested 18-year-old student Mamadou M. near the police station. This arrest followed a complaint filed by S. Sarr, a 39-year-old Impressionist painter, who accused him of harassing him on WhatsApp and soliciting him for sex after obtaining his phone number under the pretext of being a client. Questioned by the Criminal Investigation Unit, the young man confessed and provided the names of several people he presented as his partners.

These statements led to the arrest of three other suspects between Yeumbeul and Keur Massar: Madiaw D. (40 years old, logistics worker), Amath F. (48 years old, electrician), and Samba S. (21 years old, student). Test results conducted at the Keur Massar health center revealed that two of the suspects were HIV-positive, the newspaper reports.

During questioning, the same source added, the majority of the defendants admitted to the acts. Madiaw D., however, denied any sexual relationship, despite exchanges found on his phone mentioning, among other things, "a meeting and the purchase of condoms." Analysis of the seized devices, particularly conversations on WhatsApp and Messenger, allowed investigators to uncover what appears to be a "veritable exchange network," now the focus of the investigation.
