Cheikh D. and Jules D. are in serious trouble. Initially arrested for questioning in the suspicious death of a woman named R. Niang, they were ultimately taken into custody and brought before the prosecutor at the Pikine-Guédiawaye court for failing to assist a person in danger. The former is reportedly the deceased woman's boyfriend, while the latter is a nursing assistant.

According to Libération's account, the accused transported the victim's body to the Yeumbeul health center on August 26th, around 2:00 AM. The 26-year-old woman was four months pregnant, a pregnancy she had reportedly attempted to terminate at another health facility.

According to Libération, Cheikh D. confessed to investigators that he was R. Niang's boyfriend, but swore he was not the father of her child. The newspaper reports that, following his testimony, it was also reported that Niang, who is currently untraceable, allegedly asked the victim to have an abortion before putting her in contact with a woman who is also on the run. "The search for the two women mentioned above is still underway," the daily newspaper states.

After the failed abortion, the same source continues, R. Niang began to experience severe pain. "Her boyfriend claims to have called a nursing assistant [Jules D.] who allegedly gave R. Niang an IV drip at home, after which the victim lost consciousness. Taken to the health center, the doctor found that the victim had already died," Libération reports.

Alerted by medical staff, the Yeumbeul police deployed officers who proceeded to arrest Cheikh D. and Jules D., the daily newspaper concluded.
