The prefectural authority has decided to tighten regulations on the organization of the Navétanes (local football leagues) in order to curb the explosion in the number of ASCs (sports and cultural associations) and matches, given the critical lack of infrastructure. The competition period, set from July 1st to October 30th, 2026, will now have to adhere to strict deadlines to avoid any disruption to the start of the school year.

"We absolutely must preserve the start of the school year and this requires rigorous organization of competitions," the prefect stressed to local officials.

The Minister of Sport, for her part, extended the deadlines to give organizers more flexibility. "These four months must be used to ensure that the championships take place properly, without interfering with classes," insisted an ODCAV official.

Matches will now be regulated. "No match can be held after midnight. This is an absolute requirement," the prefect reiterated, inviting the ODCAV and ORGAM to work together under his authority. "It's time for these two organizations to have serious discussions to find common solutions."

The ASCs, for their part, will have to diversify their activities. "We want young people to integrate actions related to education, health and hygiene into their programs," explained a member of ORGAM, stressing that football should not be the sole focus.

Faced with the excessive number of sports associations and matches, the prefect proposed streamlining measures. "We need stricter criteria for the integration of sports associations, in order to limit their number," he stated.

Among the options discussed are reducing the number of matches, with the possibility of going directly from the group stage to the quarterfinals, as well as adjusting the match durations. "A 70-minute or even 60-minute match could be considered," suggested one organizer, convinced that this reform would lighten the schedule.

The lack of infrastructure also remains a major difficulty. "We practically only have the Ediata Institute stadium. The other facilities are not up to standard," acknowledged a member of the movement, while welcoming the rehabilitation project undertaken by the municipality.

By tightening deadlines, limiting the number of extracurricular activities, and diversifying the programs, the prefect intends to reconcile the vitality of the youth football movement with the demands of the school year. "Our priority is clear: that students return to school in a calm environment," he concluded.
