Al-Nassr : Cristiano Ronaldo futur patron de Sadio Mané
Cristiano Ronaldo, captain and main attraction of Al-Nassr since their arrival in the Saudi Pro League in January 2023, could soon change his status within the Saudi club.
According to the Portuguese daily "A Bola" , relayed by several specialized media, the 41-year-old striker is part of a consortium of five investors preparing a takeover bid aimed at taking total control of the management of Al-Nassr.
A consortium led by Gerry Cardinale
Alongside CR7 are Gerry Cardinale, owner of AC Milan and founder of the investment fund RedBird Capital, as well as three Saudi investors. Each member of the group is reportedly considering contributing around $100 million to the deal.
For Cardinale, whose fortune already owns AC Milan and Toulouse FC, this project would fit into a broader strategy of developing a multi-club model like Blue & Co. Preliminary discussions regarding a takeover of Al-Nassr had already been mentioned by the Italian media outlet " Sportitalia ".
From captain to co-owner
If the deal goes through, Cristiano Ronaldo would no longer just be the star and captain of Al-Nassr. He would also become one of the shareholders, alongside the RedBird fund and the Saudi partners of the consortium.
For the past few years, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been developing entrepreneurial ambitions by diversifying his investments in football. Last February, he became a 25% shareholder in UD Almería, a Spanish second division club, through his subsidiary CR7 Sports Investments.
