Allemagne : les joueurs offrent le transport à leurs supporters
Just days before their opening match at the 2026 World Cup, the German national team has decided to make a significant gesture towards its fans. Led by captain Joshua Kimmich, the players of the Nationalmannschaft will cover part of the travel expenses for their fans in the United States.
According to The Athletic, the German national team funded the provision of specially chartered shuttle buses to allow fans to reach the various stadiums where their team will be playing. This initiative was motivated by the particularly high cost of transportation in some of the tournament's host cities.
The most striking example concerns the final group match against Ecuador at MetLife Stadium, near New York. A round trip from Manhattan can cost nearly 85 euros by public transport.
To ease this financial burden, the German players have chartered buses capable of transporting approximately 4,000 fans. This gesture of appreciation towards the fans who sometimes travel thousands of kilometers to support their national team illustrates the group's desire to remain close to its supporters during the competition.
