Angleterre : le père de Jude Bellingham va jouer avec les Three Lions !
In the Bellingham family, the passion for football is passed down from generation to generation. After Jude, star of Real Madrid, and his younger brother Jobe, a member of Borussia Dortmund, it is now the turn of their father, Mark Bellingham, to wear the colours of England.
Aged over 50, the former amateur striker has been called up to the England veterans' team to play in a match against the Republic of Ireland, scheduled for this Sunday, November 1st in Berkshire.
This call-up rewards a particularly prolific career. During his 25-year career in the lower English divisions, Mark Bellingham scored over 700 goals for some twenty clubs, including Leamington, Stourbridge, and Sutton Coldfield Town. His performances even earned him the nickname "the Pelé of amateur football."
Retired since 2017, he will therefore lace up his boots again nine years after ending his career. An unexpected return for the man who will have the opportunity to represent his country once more, this time with the English over-50s team, the reigning world champions in their category.
