ANPS Awards 2026: Saly Sarr best female athlete, Ismaïla Sarr best footballer

The National Association of Sports Press of Senegal (ANPS) unveiled this Thursday morning in the premises of Eric Favre TV, in the city of Eaux, the winners of its trophies rewarding the best performances of the 2025-2026 season.

Saly Sarr and Ismaïla Sarr Sa Thiès stand out at the top of this list, which also honors several figures from Senegalese football and wrestling.

The Jules-François Bocandé trophy for the best Senegalese footballer playing abroad goes to Ismaïla Sarr, with 164 points, ahead of Édouard Mendy (108 points) and Sadio Mané (103 points).

The Crystal Palace striker is rewarded for his season marked by the continental title with the Lions, the victory in the Conference League, where he finished as top scorer with 9 goals, and 26 goals scored in all competitions.

Saly Sarr won the Amadou Dia Ba trophy for best athlete with 300 points, far ahead of Cheikh Thiam (96 points) and Oumy Diop (77 points). The triple jumper had a remarkable season, highlighted by gold medals in the Diamond League and at the Ultimate Championship, a bronze medal at the World Championships, and an African title. She also set a new national record with a jump of 15.08 meters.

In local football, Moustapha Guèye, defender for Teungueth FC, won the Ibrahima Coulibaly trophy with 136 points. A key player in his club's league title win, he finished ahead of Abdourahmane Mbodji and Mouhamed Diop.

In wrestling with striking, Sa Thiès won the Manga 2 trophy with 213 points, ahead of Franc and Reug Reug. His victory against Modou Lo, then King of the Arena, was among the highlights of his season.

In wrestling without striking, Ngagne Sène retains the Abdourahmane Ndiaye Falang trophy for the second consecutive year, with 196 points, thanks in particular to his performances on the national and African stage.
