ASC Cambérène : après les contestations et les accusations, un guide religieux arbitre l’AG
ASC Cambérène, a Ligue 2 club, will finally hold its general assembly this Sunday, August 30, at the Serigne Cheikh Mbacké Lahi daara, after the postponement of the vote initially scheduled for last week due to disagreements over the electoral process, reports Record.
According to the sports daily, some candidates had contested the voting method and accused the Constitutional Council of favoring the incumbent president, Cheikh Sow, who was running for re-election. Faced with these protests, the Council decided to withdraw from organizing the general assembly, leading to the postponement of the vote less than 24 hours before it was scheduled to take place.
It is in this context that Serigne Bassirou Thiaw Lahi took the initiative to bring the various parties together in order to foster a calm and transparent atmosphere. The religious leader will be present to oversee the proceedings of the general assembly, the newspaper reports.
Seeking re-election after leading the club to three promotions in three years, Cheikh Sow will notably be opposed by Cheikh Thiome, supported by first vice-president Gora Niang and journalist Papa Ibrahima Ndiongue, known as "Gazou".
The new board will have to get to work quickly to assemble its technical team and squad, following the departure of the coach and almost all the players. Especially since, as Record points out, there will then be only a month and a few days left before the start of the new season.
