Athlétisme: Saly Sarr plaide pour plus de bourses en faveur des jeunes talents africains
Following her world-class performances, Senegalese athlete Saly Sarr wants to see other African talents reach the pinnacle of world athletics. To achieve this, support from authorities and businesses is essential.
During a visit to the Secretary General of the Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports of the Francophonie (Confejes), Louisette-Renée Thobi, the athlete advocated for the provision of scholarships for young talents from across the continent. "I received a scholarship, and it allowed me to prepare under the best possible conditions," explained Saly Sarr.
For her, these support programs can play a crucial role in developing future African champions. Even if scholarships "don't solve everything," they allow athletes, according to the triple jumper, to take a first step, start in better conditions, and above all, head in the right direction. This personal experience fuels her current commitment to young athletes.
The Secretary General of Confejes, for her part, praised the athlete's career as well as her commitment to others. "Saly is today a top-level athlete, but also an altruistic one, and this is reflected in her speeches," she emphasized.
Following her world title, the stated goal surrounding the champion is now to see her reach the next level on the Olympic stage. "Today, our wish is to see her win an Olympic medal. She has won a world title and we expect this Olympic performance," declared the Secretary General of the Confejes.
