Ballon d’Or 2026 : Pourquoi Doué et Barcola ont été écartés
The list of 30 nominees for the 2026 Ballon d'Or does not include Désiré Doué or Bradley Barcola. "France Football" explained the reasons for this omission, notably their lack of consistency and their status as inconsistent players at Paris Saint-Germain and with the French national team.
According to Olivier Bossard, Barcola received very few votes, while Doué finished just outside the top three, around 31st or 32nd place. His candidacy was debated for a long time, but the competition with Barcola ultimately worked against him.
After a particularly impressive previous season, Doué also reportedly suffered from a less consistent campaign. To break into the top 30, "France Football" believes he needed to have made a bigger impact this season.
