Bayern : des nouvelles de l'état de santé de Kompany
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany is in "stable condition" after feeling unwell and being hospitalized in a Munich clinic, and will likely be out for several "weeks", sporting director Max Eberl explained at a press conference on Saturday.
"First the good news, he is stable. He collapsed yesterday on the field and is now in the hospital, where he will remain for a few more days, until we have really clarified everything, examined everything, checked everything, controlled everything," said Eberl.
"First we need to find out what happened, then how, and then we will calmly consider what this means for the recovery time. That is why, for now, we are not going to set any deadlines at all. And we are not going to talk in terms of days, we are going to talk in terms of weeks. This must be clear to all of us," he explained.
"This shows once again that football is not the most important thing in life. Maybe the second, maybe the third most important. The most important thing is health," added the Bayern sporting director.
Last week, Kompany was affected by a virus that kept him away from the squad for a few days, before returning to the bench against Arsenal in the Champions League (2-2) on Wednesday evening. He admitted that he hadn't listened to his body enough.
On Friday afternoon, after the first team's training session to prepare for the trip to Freiburg, Kompany stayed to follow the session of the reserve team, coached by former Brazilian international Dante.
Kompany then collapsed and was taken by ambulance to a Munich clinic, where he was admitted for "further examinations", the Munich club announced in a statement Friday evening.
Bayern travel to Freiburg on Sunday for the top-of-the-table clash in the Bundesliga, between the Munich leaders and the third-placed team, separated by one point (14 against 13).
An absence of a few weeks means that his squad will have to do without him for several league matches and the Champions League clash at Atlético Madrid on November 3.
