C1-Roma-Real Madrid: Letexier au sifflet, Mourinho en souvenir
François Letexier will once again referee a Real Madrid match. UEFA has appointed the French referee to officiate the Champions League clash between Los Blancos and Roma on Wednesday at 7 p.m. This will be the seventh time the Frenchman has officiated a Real Madrid game, an appointment that is sure to bring back unpleasant memories for José Mourinho.
The Portuguese coach had indeed been sent off by Letexier on February 17th, when he was still managing Benfica. It was during the first leg of the Champions League playoff against Real Madrid, which the Spanish side won 1-0 in Lisbon.
This match was also marked by the incident between Vinicius Junior and Gianluca Prestianni, who was accused of making racist remarks towards the Brazilian striker. This reunion between the French referee and the Special One is therefore expected to be a unique one.
