Championnat de Grèce : Ayoub El Kaabi victime d’une terrible blessure
The evening turned into a nightmare for Ayoub El Kaabi. The Moroccan striker for Olympiacos suffered a serious injury on Saturday during the league match against Volos FC, prematurely ending his season.
The 33-year-old striker suffered a violent collision with the opposing goalkeeper. The particularly shocking impact resulted in a broken leg for the Moroccan international, an injury that is expected to sideline him for an extended period.
This bad news comes just months after his contract extension with Olympiacos was officially announced last March. A key player for the Greek club, El Kaabi will now have to focus on his rehabilitation before hoping to return to the pitch.
Olympiacos offers its support to its striker
Very soon after the injury was announced, Olympiacos sent a message of support to their player. The Greek club praised his fighting spirit and assured him that they would support him throughout his recovery period.
"Ayoub, in this difficult moment, the entire Olympiacos family is wholeheartedly by your side. Your strength, your passion and your fighting spirit have inspired us on so many occasions. Now, it is our turn to pass on all this strength to you," the club wrote.
Olympiacos also wished their striker a speedy and full recovery, promising to stay by his side until his return to competition.
For El Kaabi, who rose to fame thanks to his spectacular goals at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, this injury is a major setback. The Moroccan will now have to embark on a long course of treatment and rehabilitation with the aim of gradually returning to his best form.
