Championnat Marocain : Paul Valère Bassene sévèrement sanctionné
Senegalese striker Paul Valère Bassène has been heavily sanctioned by the Moroccan football disciplinary bodies. The Central Disciplinary Committee of the National Professional Football League (LNFP) has decided to suspend him for five matches and fine him 300,000 dirhams following behavior deemed inappropriate during a league match.
In an official statement, the LNFP detailed the sanctions taken after reviewing the incidents that occurred during the match between Raja Club Athletic and Renaissance Sportive de Berkane, played as part of the 22nd day of the Botola Pro Inwi.
According to the governing body, the sanction against the Senegalese player is related to his goal celebration against Raja Casablanca on June 3rd. Bassène's gesture after scoring the goal was deemed contrary to the applicable disciplinary rules.
This decision is a major blow for RS Berkane, who will have to do without their striker for five matches. In addition to this suspension, the player will have to pay a substantial fine of 300,000 dirhams, set by the Central Disciplinary Committee.
