Originally scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026, the start of the Senegalese professional league has been postponed by two weeks. The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) announced on Tuesday, September 29, that the new date is Saturday, October 17.

Senegalese professional football will have to wait a little longer. Meeting on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the Emergency Committee of the Senegalese Football Federation decided to postpone the start of the professional championship, initially scheduled for October 3.

According to the Federation's statement, this decision is explained by the high concentration of international fixtures faced by the various national teams of Senegal during the same period.

The senior national team is scheduled to face Comoros on October 4th, while the U23, U20, U17, and Beach Soccer teams are also involved in several international matches. The U23s will play Gambia on October 2nd and 4th, the U20s will face DR Congo on October 1st and 4th, the U17s will play France on October 3rd and 5th, and the Beach Soccer team will play Nigeria on October 3rd and 4th.

Faced with this particularly busy schedule, the FSF Emergency Committee deemed it necessary to review the championship schedule in order to allow the players and clubs concerned to better manage their commitments with the national teams.

The new kick-off date is therefore set for Saturday, October 17, 2026, a postponement of two weeks.

According to the FSF, this measure should ensure better coordination between national competitions and international events, while offering the various teams the best possible conditions for preparation and participation.

The Federation is therefore asking the Senegalese Professional Football League (LSFP), professional clubs and all stakeholders to take the necessary steps to integrate this new date into their respective calendars.
