Coupe du monde 2026 : Le Canada arrache un bon match nul face à la Bosnie
Co-host of the World Cup, Canada began the World Cup with a draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina (1-1).
In a match that started at a high pace, the Bosnians quickly found the opening on a corner deflected at the near post by former Marseille player Sead Kolasinac and headed in by Sasa Lukic (0-1, 21st minute).
A few minutes earlier, well positioned in the box, Jonathan David had missed the opportunity to open the scoring for Canada with a shot that was too central, going straight into Nikola Vasilj's gloves.
Behind, the Canadians reacted and pushed to get back into the game. Tani Oluwaseyi had a good chance to equalize after getting the better of Muharemovic in a duel, but the Minnesota United striker's shot sailed over the bar.
Ismaël Koné's teammates then monopolized possession until halftime, without managing to break through a Bosnian defense that left little space for the Canadian attackers.
In the second half, Canada returned to the pitch with renewed determination. Launching numerous attacks, the North Americans came close to equalizing through Richmond Laryea, whose shot was deflected onto the crossbar by Bosnian captain Sead Kolasinac (52nd minute).
Through sheer persistence, Canada finally found a way through. Cyle Larin, who came on in the 76th minute, equalized two minutes later with a swivel shot that was slightly deflected by a Bosnian defender (78th minute).
