Échec des Lionceaux : Malick Daf monte au créneau et défend son bilan

Heavily criticized after Senegal's third-place finish at the WAFU/A U20 tournament, which prevented the Young Lions from qualifying for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, Malick Daf has broken his silence. The Young Lions' coach addressed his detractors, highlighting his team's performance in the competition while acknowledging that improvements are still needed.

Eliminated in the semi-finals by Guinea (2-3), despite having led by two goals, the Young Lions failed to secure qualification for the next U20 Africa Cup of Nations. This result has drawn considerable criticism of Malick Daf, who is also the coach of Teungueth FC.

In response to the criticism, the Senegalese coach highlighted his experience in the tournament, recalling that he had won his first three appearances. He also emphasized the collective work done with his technical staff, whose competence he praised.

“I would have liked to work here full-time, to be able to control and manage my team, but that’s not the case. Behind me, there is my staff, with a very good coach who has a CAF license like me. He was the one who was here. We work ahead of time, as a team,” he explained.

Malick Daf nevertheless accepts this third place, which he considers to be one of the unpredictable aspects of football. "The first three tournaments I participated in, I won them all, with the best attack, the best defense, and the best coach. This time, it didn't work out, and we finished third."

But that's part of the life of a coach and a club. You can't win all the time," he said.

The former Jaraaf coach also believes that other nations are working harder to close the gap with Senegal. Aware of his team's shortcomings, he nevertheless promises to learn from this failure.

“We know what went wrong. We are aware that there is still a lot of groundwork to be done. We will remain calm and collected before resuming work. As soon as we return, we will take stock, identify the mistakes and try to correct them to better prepare for the upcoming challenges,” the coach concluded.

Despite the disappointment of this Malian campaign, Malick Daf intends to continue working with the Young Lions, with the ambition of bouncing back in the next competitions.

belle analyse, ce qui compte le plus c'est de reconnaitre ses erreurs et de les corriger. Comme tu l a souligne, tu as gagne les 3 derniers competitions donc ce n est pas un probleme d incompetence mais qui peut etre de l'usure aussi.
