Éliminatoires CAN U23 2023 : le Sénégal connaît son potentiel adversaire pour le 2e tour
Senegal will have to wait to know for sure who their next opponent will be in the qualifiers for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations 2023. Exempt from the first round, the local Lions will enter the competition directly in the second round, scheduled for November.
The Senegalese U23 national team, coached by Serigne Saliou Dia, will face the winner of the match between Djibouti and South Sudan. This two-legged tie will be the first step in Senegal's journey towards the final tournament of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in 2027.
A total of 28 teams will participate in the first round of qualifying. They will be divided into 14 matches played over two legs. The 14 winning teams will then join the 14 exempt nations, including Senegal, for the second round.
Following this second phase, the qualified teams will continue their journey in a third and final round. The seven nations that emerge victorious from this final stage will secure their place in the competition's final phase.
Egypt, designated host country of the 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations, has automatically qualified. Senegal will therefore have to go through two rounds to reach the final tournament and try to secure a place among the best African teams in the U23 category.
