It's the end of an era for Chérif Ndiaye. At 30, the Senegalese striker has decided to retire from international football. He officially announced his decision in a message posted on his social media, thus ending his time with the Lions of Teranga.
Called up to the national team for the first time by Aliou Cissé in May 2024, Chérif Ndiaye ultimately spent only a few years wearing the national jersey. Despite significant competition in the attacking positions, the player was a regular member of the Senegalese squad.
In total, the striker played 19 matches for the Senegalese national team and scored four goals. This record will now remain the defining international chapter of his career.
This decision therefore marks the end of an adventure which allowed Chérif Ndiaye to discover the very highest international level and to represent his country at several important events.
At 30 years old, the striker has chosen to focus on his club career, after having represented Senegal for two years.
