Ibrahim Mbaye revealed that Moussa Niakhaté played a significant role in his decision to represent Senegal while he was still playing for France's youth teams. The young winger spoke with the Senegalese defender, who convinced him with his talk about the Lions of Teranga. "He told me about the national team and I loved it," the 18-year-old explained in an interview with Cheikh Footstyle, as reported by Afrik Foot.
Also attracted by the possibility of quickly joining the Senegalese national team, Mbaye decided to sign with the Lions. Having made his debut in November 2025, he already has 15 caps and 4 goals for Senegal. His first start, against Kenya, was particularly noteworthy, with a goal and two assists.
Now playing for Aston Villa after leaving PSG, Ibrahim Mbaye is still waiting for his first minutes with the English club.
