Senegal national team: Pape Guèye impressed by Patrick Vieira's methods

Pape Guèye is already charmed by Patrick Vieira. After his first international break under the leadership of the new Lions coach, the Senegalese midfielder particularly appreciates the closeness and availability of the French coach.

A former top-level midfielder, Vieira possesses experience that is a valuable asset for Pape Guèye. The latter intends to take advantage of this collaboration to reach a new level in his career, particularly in managing his position and his contribution to the team.

In an interview with the Spanish daily newspaper "Marca," the Villarreal player made no secret of his admiration for the new Lions manager. He also emphasized the quality of the discussions he already has with him.

“Vieira is a football legend and we are happy to have him on our side, with someone of his experience,” said Pape Guèye, who is delighted to be able to benefit from the advice of a former player who played in the same position as him.

The Senegalese midfielder also highlighted the coach's availability and his interest in the individual development of his players. "I talk to him a lot because I know he can help me. We exchange ideas a lot. He's a very open person; he likes to talk with the players," he explained.

The discussions focus in particular on the aspects of Pape Guèye's game that he needs to improve, both in his use of the ball and his off-the-ball work. The Senegalese international sees this collaboration as a real opportunity to continue his development.

“We talked about my position, how I can progress with and without the ball. This will be very important for my career,” he added.

These initial exchanges demonstrate the growing trust between Patrick Vieira and Pape Guèye. It remains to be seen how this relationship will translate onto the pitch in the Lions' upcoming matches.
