Everton : Le club officiellement mis en vente
The Friedkin Group (TFG), owners of Everton, are opening the door to a possible majority sale of the English club . Initially in favor of minority investors, the Toffees' owners are now considering relinquishing control of the team, currently 7th in the Premier League.
In a statement released this Friday morning, TFG announced it is exploring new investment options, including the potential sale of a majority stake in Liverpool FC.
Until now, the preferred strategy had been to welcome strategic investors without relinquishing control of the club. This new direction, however, confirms that the American management is now open to a larger sale, or even a change of ownership.
"Verton, including the potential sale of a majority stake in m," the statement said.
To justify this change, TFG cites the difficulties Everton faced at the time of its takeover. The group states that it had to deal with a particularly fragile financial situation, as well as numerous sporting and structural challenges.
Priorities included restoring financial stability, making essential investments and supporting the long-awaited new stadium project.
Believing that he has laid a more solid foundation, the owner now considers that the club can embark on a new stage of its development.
TFG specifies, however, that it will only consider offers from investors capable of ensuring the continuity of the project and strengthening the current momentum.
Seventh in the Premier League, Everton could take a significant step forward if an investor capable of supporting their development were to emerge. It remains to be seen who will be able to convince TFG and take the reins of the Toffees.
