FC Metz : Nampalys Mendy victime d’une sérieuse blessure
FC Metz will have to do without Nampalys Mendy for several months. The Senegalese midfielder suffered a ruptured quadriceps tendon in his left knee, an injury that required surgery.
Bad news for FC Metz. Just days before their trip to Dijon, scheduled for this Monday for the 8th matchday of Ligue 2, the Lorraine club announced the long-term unavailability of their Senegalese international.
Thirty-four-year-old Nampalys Mendy underwent successful surgery on Tuesday, according to a statement from the club. The 2022 African champion now begins a recovery period expected to last several months.
This absence is a major blow for Metz, who lose an experienced midfielder. Having just taken over as manager, Grégory Proment will therefore have to revise his plans without his number 6 for the upcoming matches.
Since the start of the season, Nampalys Mendy had taken part in six matches, but had only started once, during the away game in Annecy, which ended in a draw (1-1) on August 29.
FC Metz will now have to do without their Senegalese midfielder for a long period, while awaiting his return to competition.
