Foot: Cristiano Ronaldo devient le premier joueur à marquer lors de six Coupes du monde
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player in history to score in six World Cups, opening the scoring in the sixth minute against Uzbekistan at the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday in Houston.
The 41-year-old striker, criticized after the first match of the American tournament against the Democratic Republic of Congo (1-1), scored the 144th goal of his international career, bringing his total to nine in the World Cup (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022 and 2026).

He perfectly volleyed a cross from Joao Cancelo (6th minute) two minutes after missing a shot from a cross by Parisian defender Nuno Mendes (4th minute).
The many Portuguese fans present in the Houston stadium exploded with joy and shouted a powerful "Suiii", the cry that accompanies each goal of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
The striker, who has scored 144 goals in 230 appearances – a national record – had gone ten games without scoring in a major tournament, a streak that began after his goal against Ghana at the start of the 2022 World Cup.
His very lackluster performance at the opening of the 2026 edition had earned him a great deal of criticism, with some observers believing that he no longer had a place among the starters.
