Football: CAF increases subsidies granted to the 54 federations by 33%

This is good news for the 54 member associations of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). They will benefit from a 33% increase in their annual subsidies.

In concrete terms, the cumulative amount of these annual subsidies increases from $525,000 to a maximum of $700,000 per association.

By strengthening its financial support to member associations, CAF is demonstrating its commitment to making football in African countries a "world-class sector capable of sustainable development and financial autonomy".

To invest more in youth football and women's football

The Confederation of African Football expects its member associations to use the additional resources allocated to, among other things, "strengthen their football development structures, invest more in youth and women's football, improve their administration and governance, and create sustainable programs for the benefit of players, coaches, referees and all football stakeholders."

In addition to CAF-affiliated associations, CAF zonal unions will also see their annual funding increase from $750,000 to $900,000, a rise of 20%. The Association of African Clubs (ACA) will also benefit, with its subsidies increasing from $400,000 to $500,000.

Annual subsidies have increased by 250% compared to 2021

As a reminder, in 2021, CAF member associations received an annual grant of $200,000. This amount was subsequently doubled to $400,000 before increasing to $525,000, and then to $700,000.

These annual subsidies have therefore increased by 250% compared to 2021. This seems to demonstrate CAF's constant commitment to investing in the development of African football and strengthening the capacities of its member associations.
