FSF-LSFP : les raisons du malaise
The decision by the Emergency Committee of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), headed by Abdoulaye Fall, to postpone the start of the professional championship from October 3 to 17, 2026, has provoked a strong reaction from the Senegalese Professional Football League (LSFP), chaired by Babacar Ndiaye, Le Quotidien points out.
A postponement that is not going down well
Certainly, the LSFP says it understands "the imperatives linked to the national teams", currently engaged in the international break with the new coach of the Lions of Senegal, Patrick Vieira, in the context of the qualifiers for the 2027 AFCON. However, it contests the "duration of the postponement" and believes that a resumption from October 10 would have been sufficient.
Moreover, Babacar Ndiaye's team emphasizes that this schedule change comes as clubs, partners, broadcasters, and media outlets had already made arrangements for a start initially set for October 3rd. Faced with this postponement, the League cites "significant adjustments on the sporting, organizational, and economic levels," particularly due to commitments made to sponsors and supporters. Consequently, "the LSFP does not rule out demanding financial compensation from the FSF," notes the newspaper published by Groupe Avenir Communication.
This disagreement comes after the Federation paid a debt of 121 million CFA francs last August. The League welcomed this payment at the time, which was intended to allow it to prepare for the new season under better conditions, the same source recalls.
