Ghana: Carlos Queiroz quitte les Black Stars la deuxième dans l’année
Carlos Queiroz's adventure at the helm of Ghana has come to an end once again. The Portuguese coach has left his post as manager of the Black Stars by mutual agreement with the Ghanaian Football Association, following a particularly difficult start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ghana has suffered two consecutive defeats, against Ivory Coast (2-0) and then Gambia (4-2). These results precipitated the departure of Queiroz, whose time in charge of the national team was marked by several dramatic events.
Appointed last April with the mission of preparing for the World Cup, the 73-year-old coach led the Black Stars in the tournament, at the end of which Ghana was eliminated in the round of 32. Following the competition, the Portuguese coach announced his departure before ultimately returning to his post in September, after a new agreement between the various parties.
A few weeks later, the story has come to an end once again. In a statement, the Ghana Football Association clarified that the discussions surrounding this separation took place "in a spirit of mutual respect." It also emphasized that the decision "was not an easy one," but that both parties felt that ending the collaboration was, under the current circumstances, "the most appropriate solution."
Black Stars must now turn their attention to the remainder of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers and quickly find a new coach to try and revive their campaign.
