Ghana : Carlos Queiroz reprend officiellement les rênes des Black Stars
Ghana has decided to place its trust in Carlos Queiroz once again. Two months after leaving his post following the Black Stars' elimination against Colombia (0-1) in the round of 32 of the World Cup, the Portuguese coach officially returns to lead the Ghanaian national team.
The Ghana Football Association announced on Wednesday the appointment of Queiroz, without specifying the duration of his new contract. This decision marks the beginning of a new chapter between the Portuguese coach and the Black Stars.
To justify this choice, the governing body of Ghanaian football highlighted the coach's international career as well as his perfect knowledge of the national team environment.
"Queiroz's international experience, technical expertise and knowledge of the Black Stars place him in an excellent position to guide the team through this new stage," the Federation explained.
Back at the helm, Carlos Queiroz will quickly have a major objective to achieve: to get Ghana back into the Africa Cup of Nations. The Black Stars had indeed missed out on the 2025 edition of the AFCON in Morocco.
The Portuguese coach will therefore have to quickly revive the national team and build a squad capable of securing qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. A new challenge for Queiroz, who is now fully aware of the expectations surrounding the Ghanaian national team.
