Italie: McTominay(Naples), en proie à des troubles du rythme cardiaque, a été opéré

Napoli's Scottish international Scott McTominay underwent a procedure on Tuesday to treat heart rhythm problems, the 2026 Italian runners-up announced.

"This Tuesday morning, Scott McTominay underwent a cardiac ablation procedure at Spire Hospital in Manchester. The operation was a complete success," Napoli said in a statement. This procedure is designed to neutralize, using heat or cold, the few millimeters of tissue responsible for the arrhythmia.

"McTominay will rest for two weeks before resuming training," the text adds, without giving a date for his return to play.

The attacking midfielder, voted best player in Serie A for the 2024-25 season, was rested after the 2nd matchday of the Italian Championship and could make "his return at the end of the international break" in early October, Napoli announced last week.

Since arriving from Manchester United in August 2024, the 29-year-old McTominay has become a fan favorite at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. He has scored 27 goals in 82 appearances across all competitions, including 12 in his first Serie A season, which culminated in the Italian league title.

Napoli, now managed by Massimiliano Allegri, are 12th in Serie A with three points after three matches. They face Arsenal on Wednesday in their opening Champions League group stage game.
