« Je me suis senti ridicule » : Khadim Ndiaye raconte une anecdote avec Demba Ba
His time with the national team left a lasting impression. A former goalkeeper for the Lions of Senegal, Khadim Ndiaye was the starting goalkeeper for the Lions of Senegal for a significant portion of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers between Gabon and Equatorial Guinea under Amara Traoré, before being dethroned by Bouna Coundoul. This was undoubtedly due to his distinctive style, which caused several anxious moments for the Lions' supporters.
Playing for Linguère de Saint-Louis at that time, he had the opportunity to play alongside exceptional teammates in the national team, some of whom were competing in top European leagues. Beyond representing his country, the national team also served as a place of self-reflection for Khadim Ndiaye.
Interviewed by our colleagues at Dsports, the former international recalled an anecdote involving a striker who was a key player for the national team. "When Demba Ba struck the ball in front of me, I felt ridiculous because the ball came off with such power," said the former ASC Jaraaf player.
The goalkeeper continued by sharing advice from Amara Traoré: "If you want to make it here (in the national team), you need to raise your level. The way you train in Senegal is too weak."
The goalkeeper followed these suggestions to the letter, stating that he made new resolutions once he returned to Linguère de Saint-Louis. "When we had to train at 9 a.m. (with the club), I was there at 7 a.m. to start working individually. After having breakfast at 8 a.m., I would resume at 8 a.m. for another session, this time with the team. And I would do yet another session in the evening," he revealed.
