JOJ Dakar 2026 : A la veille de l’ouverture, le ministre de l’Intérieur adresse un message fort aux forces de sécurité
Just hours before the opening ceremony of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), scheduled for Friday, October 30, the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé, addressed a message to the defense and security forces mobilized to secure this international event. He urged them to be extra vigilant, to close ranks, and to demonstrate impeccable professionalism.
In a message dated October 30, 2026, the top police officer, who chairs the National Coordination Committee for the Security of the Youth Olympic Games (CNS-JOJ), addressed the military, gendarmes, police officers, and firefighters involved in the security arrangements. "For almost two years, you have been preparing with dedication to ensure the safety and security of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games," Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé reminded them, praising their professionalism and sense of duty.
On the eve of the opening of this major event for Senegal and Africa, the minister called for general mobilization. He urged the deployed forces to "close ranks," remain vigilant, and demonstrate rigor in their checks, without ever losing their composure.
The head of Place Washington also emphasizes the importance of officers' conduct in the field. He demands that they be impeccable in their appearance, language, and gestures.
Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé emphasizes that the Army, the Police, the Gendarmerie, and the Fire Brigade form a single security chain. He therefore advocates for solidarity among the different forces, information sharing, coordination of resources, and strict adherence to the chain of command.
The minister also paid particular attention to collaboration with the security forces of friendly countries who had come to provide reinforcements. He urged the Senegalese units to welcome them with fraternity and professionalism, with mutual respect and a clear understanding of roles, under the coordination of national commands.
Finally, the Minister of the Interior asked officers to be courteous, approachable, and attentive to athletes, visitors, officials, and the public. "Guide, reassure, protect. That is Senegalese hospitality (Téranga)," he emphasized. "The nation trusts you," concluded Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé, who called on all those involved to make Dakar 2026 a celebration of youth, peace, and fraternity.
