Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games: The CIAAS calls for mobilization, but warns about public service employees' access to their offices

On the eve of the opening of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), scheduled for this Saturday, October 31, the Interministerial Collective of Senegalese Administrative Agents (CIAAS) wished to acknowledge this historic event. The first edition of the international competition to be held on African soil, this major event represents an exceptional showcase for Senegal.

In this context, the CIAAS is making a strong appeal to all citizens to ensure unwavering popular mobilization to guarantee the organizational success and international influence of the country.

Nevertheless, the group's support is accompanied by serious concerns about the impact of the security and transportation measures planned during the festivities. The CIAAS is raising the alarm about the already announced traffic restrictions, emphasizing that these travel limitations risk disrupting civil servants' access to their posts.

The disruptions are expected to be particularly significant in the ministerial spheres of Diamniadio as well as in the administrative departments based in the city centre, ultimately threatening the regularity and continuity of public service.

Faced with these risks of functional paralysis, the coordinator of the CIAAS, Omar Dramé, formally appealed to the Prime Minister to request a rigorous contingency plan. To prevent blockages, the group put forward several concrete proposals.

He suggests the urgent issuance of special accreditations for administrative staff, the official recognition of the professional card as a priority access document to business areas, and the temporary deployment of teleworking for positions whose nature allows it.

For the representatives of the CIAAS, a pragmatic planning of these flows will make it possible to reconcile the festive and secure holding of this great mass of world sport with the fundamental requirements of the Senegalese public administration.
