JOJ Dakar-2026 : Les renforts français accueillis et intégrés au dispositif de sécurité
French reinforcements deployed to support the Senegalese defense and security forces (FDS) in preparation for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) were officially welcomed and briefed on Monday, October 26, 2026, during a high-level strategic meeting. This meeting marks a decisive step in international cooperation surrounding the event.
Chaired by the Deputy Coordinator of the Youth Olympic Games National Security Committee (YOG-NSC), the meeting was held at the International Cooperation Centre (ICC). It brought together the heads of the Operations Coordination Centre (OCC) and the ICC, force commanders or their representatives, and the chairs of the thematic commissions or their representatives. A delegation from the U.S. Embassy's Homeland Security Department also participated.
The deputy coordinator welcomed the French delegation, composed of counter-drone and explosives detection experts from the National Police, the National Gendarmerie, and the Directorate General of Civil Protection (DGPC). He emphasized the importance of clarifying their mission: it is in no way intended to replace the CNS-JOJ forces, but rather to leverage the experience these experts have gained during major international sporting events.
He then reiterated the guiding principles governing their integration, before giving the floor to the operational staff.
Chief police commissioner El Hadj Baîtyr Sène first outlined the context of the center's creation, its core missions, its organizational structure, and its daily operating mechanisms.
The vice-chair of the planning committee then provided a comprehensive overview of the security context, threat assessments, and operational plans. He also detailed the allocation quotas and the principles for integrating reinforcements. The plenary session concluded with a tour of the CCO's infrastructure and command centers.
This day illustrates the methodological rigor and proactivity that characterize the CNS-JOJ's approach. Combining strategic planning and tactical agility on the ground, Senegal demonstrates its commitment to making the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games a model of security and Olympic fraternity.
