JOJ Dakar 2026-Natation : Une finale, deux champions et deux médailles d’or !
The swimming pool at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) was the scene of a rare and spectacular event. At the end of the men's 50m backstroke final, two swimmers shared the top step of the podium, each winning a gold medal.
Greek Nikolaos PAPATHEODOROU and Portuguese Miguel REIS OLIVEIRA achieved exactly the same time, 25.69 seconds, thus both securing the title of champions in this discipline.
An unprecedented situation at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, but not in the history of swimming, where ties can sometimes lead to a sharing of the gold medal. This unusual outcome serves as a reminder of how every hundredth of a second counts in the pool.
Meanwhile, Alexander Wilfried O. VAN HOEY BILLIET of Belgium won the bronze medal, completing the podium in this unusual final.
