With the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games just days away, the organizing committee has published a guide detailing ticket purchase procedures, prices, and access conditions for the various venues. Reservations are made through the official ticketing platform, with paid tickets for most competitions, but also free access for certain events and activities.
2,250,000 FCFA is the price to pay for a box seat at the opening ceremony of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), scheduled to take place at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio. According to the ticket purchase guide published by the organizing committee, prices are set at 4,000 FCFA for Category C, 15,000 FCFA for Category B, and 40,000 FCFA for Category A. Tickets for people with reduced mobility (PRM) are available for 2,000 FCFA for this first YOG in Africa.
For some competitions, tickets start at 1,000 FCFA. Prices vary depending on the sport and seating category. For several competitions, including rugby sevens, skateboarding, breaking, 3x3 basketball, and taekwondo, tickets are priced between 1,000 and 3,000 FCFA, depending on the category and event. For athletics, the prices are 3,000 FCFA for category A and 2,000 FCFA for category B. Baseball 5 is offered at 2,000 FCFA, while tickets for beach sports in Saly are bundled into a Day Pass for 1,500 FCFA.
Free access under different conditions
Not all events require payment. The official guide indicates that road cycling is free and does not require reservations. The same applies to the triathlon at Saly Beach West. Spectators can also access the Festival held on the Corniche Ouest free of charge, which features entertainment, sports demonstrations, concerts, and cultural activities.
Fan Zone Passes are also free, but require online booking. They grant access to entertainment and sports activities, as well as some standing-room-only competitions, subject to availability. They do not guarantee a seat.
In Saly, the Day Pass allows you to enjoy the site for a day, with access to competitions (subject to availability), as well as the entertainment and activities offered. It is priced at 1,500 FCFA.
How do I book my ticket?
The process begins on the official platform. The viewer must create an account by providing their email address, which serves as their username, and then confirm it using a verification code received by email.
Once logged in, users can search for events by sport or date, select the desired competition, and choose the available ticket type. For the opening ceremony, seats are numbered and must be selected from a seating chart. For sporting events, seating is generally unassigned within the chosen section, without a specific seat.
After making their selection, the user verifies the amount to pay, enters their information, accepts the booking conditions, and proceeds with the payment. The guide designates Visa as the official payment method for the Games.
Tickets are issued online. Sporting competitions use electronic tickets, while the opening ceremony and special events use a smart ticketing system.
Pay attention to cancellation deadlines and conditions.
The organizing committee specifies that confirmed reservations are final and non-refundable. No cancellations are permitted after confirmation. Therefore, it is recommended to verify the date, location, session, and price before finalizing the purchase.
The guide also stipulates that a reservation remains temporary until all payment steps are completed. The reserved seat is automatically released if payment is not finalized within two hours of the reservation starting.
Finally, tickets can be sent to another person using the "Send as a gift" function. The recipient receives an email containing a link and a five-digit code to retrieve their ticket. Ticket download and barcode activation are only possible seven days before the competition.
The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) will take place from October 31 to November 13, 2026 in Dakar, Saly and Diamniado.
