La Tunisie annule son match amical contre le Mali : Les Aigles volent vers Rabat
In a statement released on Wednesday, September 30, the Malian Football Federation (Femafoot) announced the cancellation of the friendly match scheduled for Saturday, October 3, between the Eagles of Mali and the Eagles of Carthage of Tunisia. "This cancellation was made in agreement with the Tunisian Football Federation," the statement specified.
According to Reuters, the lack of available players due to injuries and the possible impact of the result of this friendly match on the FIFA ranking prompted the Tunisian Football Federation to cancel the game.
Morocco, the substitute opponent
The Carthage Eagles are currently experiencing a crisis of results. They failed to win either of their two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches played last September. This is in stark contrast to the Mali Eagles, who are in excellent form.
After the cancellation of this clash, the Fémafoot announced in another statement that the Eagles would finally face the Atlas Lions of Morocco.
"As part of its preparations for upcoming international matches, the Malian Football Federation informs the sporting public that the Malian national team will play an international match against the Moroccan national team on October 4, 2026," the statement reads. As a reminder, the Atlas Lions were originally scheduled to play the Black Stars of Ghana, but the West African nation decided to cancel the match.
