Le coup de sang de Marcelo Bielsa après l'élimination de l'Uruguay à la Coupe du monde
Uruguay's coach, Argentinian Marcelo Bielsa, briefly but violently lost his temper after his team's elimination in the first round of the World Cup on Friday following the defeat against Spain (0-1).
Known for his reticence in front of the press, Marcelo Bielsa lost his temper after Uruguay's elimination in the first round of the World Cup on Friday. The former Marseille coach clearly lashed out at a technical staff member during his post-match interview, whom he felt wasn't speaking quickly enough. "Just go for it, damn it!" he exclaimed, glaring, before quickly returning to the reasons for the defeat.
“I failed to capitalize on the potential of Uruguay and its players,” he stated, believing his team lacked “more presence in attack.” What did he say to Fernando Muslera at halftime to justify his substitution? “Nothing.” The coach later claimed in a press conference that it was the player himself who asked to leave the field.
Defeated by Spain (0-1) following an error by their goalkeeper, Uruguay finished third in Group H. Not enough to allow them to qualify for the round of 32.
