Liga : le Barça frappe fort contre le Rayo et récupère le fauteuil de leader
FC Barcelona didn't falter. After Real Madrid's resounding victory against Malaga (4-0), the Blaugrana needed to respond to stay in touch with their arch-rivals. Mission accomplished in style. Barça dominated Rayo Vallecano, featuring Pathé Ciss (5-2), this Monday at the Camp Nou, and reclaimed first place in La Liga.
However, the Catalans were quickly caught off guard. Capitalizing on a defensive error by Jules Koundé, Sergio Camello opened the scoring in the 12th minute. A difficult start to the match, but one that didn't unsettle Hans Dieter Flick's Barcelona men.
Raphinha quickly leveled the score in the 19th minute, before Lamine Yamal gave Barça the lead just two minutes later. Barcelona then gradually took control of the game.
After the break, the home side definitively took control. Gordon once again made his mark by forcing Lejeune's own goal in the 51st minute. Rayo, however, refused to give up, and Camello scored his second goal in the 59th minute to inject some suspense into the game.
But Barça had too many attacking options. Raphinha scored his second goal of the match in the 71st minute, before Yamal completed his brace in added time, definitively sealing the Catalan victory.
With this convincing victory, FC Barcelona confirms its excellent start to the season. The Blaugrana now have three wins in three matches and are level on points with Real Madrid. The battle for the top spot in La Liga is already underway.
