Ligue 1 : Boulaye Dia frappe deux fois en deux minutes avec Rennes
Boulaye Dia made a lasting impression during Stade Rennais' victory against Auxerre (4-1) on Sunday, on the occasion of the 6th day of Ligue 1. Coming on as a substitute with fifteen minutes remaining, the Senegalese striker waited until added time to score a quickfire brace.
As Rennes looked to seal the victory, the 29-year-old showcased his clinical finishing, scoring two goals in the 90+2 and 90+4 minutes. This decisive contribution has truly kick-started his season, with two goals already in four league appearances.
On loan from Lazio, Boulaye Dia made no secret of his satisfaction after the match. The Lion of Teranga particularly emphasized the quality of the Rennes squad and the importance of competition within the group. "We have a quality group. We all have to be ready when the coach calls on us. Tonight, I was the substitute who scored. Next time, it will be someone else," he explained to Ligue 1, stressing that collective strength should take precedence over individual performances.
When asked about the Breton club's ambitions, particularly the possibility of finishing on the podium, the striker expressed optimism while urging caution. "A podium finish? Yes. But a season is long. We'll stay calm and focused. The most important thing is to keep winning matches," he concluded.
With this remarkable performance, Boulay Dia sends a positive signal and confirms that he can be a valuable weapon for Rennes, even coming off the bench.
