Senegalese Ligue 1 – Matchday 1: Génération Foot starts strong, US Gorée and Diambars secure wins

The 30-day marathon of the Senegalese professional championship, 2026-2027 season, kicked off this Saturday with several interesting matches.

At the Djibril Diagne Stadium in Déni Biram Ndao, Génération Foot made a strong impression by launching their season with a convincing 3-0 victory against AS Pikine. Amidou Ba Niamadio opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, becoming the first goalscorer of the new season.

In their home ground, the Djaguily Bagayokho stadium, US Gorée dominated Linguère of Saint-Louis (2-0). A successful start for the Islanders, who thus confirm their ambition to continue the momentum from last season.

Playing away in Ziguinchor, Diambars won the clash of the newly promoted sides, defeating Essamaye FC 1-0. Meanwhile, Guédiawaye FC made a successful home debut at the Amadou Barry Stadium, beating Dakar Sacré-Cœur 2-1.

Jaraaf and Casa Sports, touted as title contenders, were forced to share the points. The Medina club was held to a 1-1 draw by AJEL of Rufisque, while the southern team drew 2-2 against ASC HLM of Dakar.

At the Maniang Soumaré stadium, the derby between Wallydaan and Stade de Mbour ended in a goalless draw (0-0).

As a reminder, the match between Teungueth FC and US Ouakam was postponed due to the Rufisque club's participation in the African Champions League. Fifteen goals have been scored in seven matches.
