Senegalese Ligue 1: Jaraaf-AJEL, the marquee match of the first day

After a two-week delay from its originally scheduled date, the 2026-2027 Senegalese professional championship kicks off this Saturday. The Jaraaf-AJEL match is the highlight of this first round.

Jaraaf, the most decorated club in Senegalese football, will try to make a successful start against a Rufisque side that finished second last season. A promising duel between two ambitious teams.

The match between the two newly promoted sides, Essamaye FC and Diambars de Saly, also promises to be interesting. The Ziguinchor team, playing their first home game in Ligue 1, will be eager to give their fans a victory.
