Ligue 1 sénégalaise : Patrick Vieira à l’affût des talents locaux
The coach of the Senegalese national team, Patrick Vieira, attended the opening of the Senegalese championship on Saturday, on the occasion of the match between Guédiawaye FC and Dakar Sacré-Cœur.
Present alongside Elhadji Diouf, the president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Abdoulaye Fall, and the mayor of Guédiawaye, Ahmed Aïdara, the coach reaffirmed his interest in local football and his desire to select the best players, regardless of the league in which they play.
“It’s a pleasure to come and watch the opening of the Senegalese championship. This is my first match. Local football is the foundation. I came…,” said Patrick Vieira, thus highlighting the importance he attaches to the national championship as part of his mission at the head of the Lions.
The coach also outlined the criteria that will guide his choices for the national team. For him, the player's level remains the primary factor, regardless of their club or league.
"My goal is to take the best players in their position, regardless of where the player plays, whether in Saudi Arabia or Senegal. The essential thing is that he is the best in his position, the quality of the player," he explained.
